Church Youth Outreach Evangelism Ideas
The Penny Hunt- Your youth group will love this outreach idea! It's time for a scavenger hunt. You begin by teaming up two people each to a team in your youth group. Give each team a penny. Send them out to the neighborhoods.
- The object: Go to homes letting them know you will trade them a penny for anything bigger (in size) or better (value..."this does not mean making a trade for a quarter", but just something that someone thinks is of more value).
- The Goal: The team with the biggest or best object wins.
- The Purpose: This gets your youth group active and shows the people in the community what kind of church you are and what you offer for youth.
- The Catch: Be sure to leave some information on your church at every house! A church brochure would be great!
Mall Trip- Every youth loves the mall (ok not EVERY youth). Why not take your youth group to the mall in search of the perfect gift... for the shop keep! It can be a lot of fun to search for a gift. It can be even more fun to give a gift to someone you don't even know. Try to think of what the cashier may like and when you buy it... give it to them as a gift. Leave them a little church card to let them know who just gave them a gift. You have to be careful not to violate shop rules when you use this church evangelism idea.
Chili Cook Off- Get a group of kids together with a big pot and a goal of making the best chili in town and you have yourself a fun time on your hands. Have them invite their friends to join in and help. Have some fun and games to go along with it.
Dance For Joy- David danced for joy. Why shouldn't you? Have you noticed how anticipated prom and winter formal is? Teen kids love to be at a dance and there is nothing wrong with dance. You can even teach dance classes. If you hold a dance for the local school kids at your church you will be able to teach those kids how God views them and they may very well be back for seconds.
Formal Dinner- Have a formal dinner prepared where everyone dresses up. Have a special evangelist speaker for the night.
Comedy Club- Everyone has a class clown in the group. Comedy can really bring people together. Invite youth all over to enjoy your new comedy club with a christian perspective.
Costume Party- Crazy fun can come at anytime of the year when your youth group makes their own costumes for the costume party of the year. Make a biblical theme and see how many people show up.
Movie Stars- If you have a digital camera and a group of kids then you can have a ball making a video. Have everyone think up a video idea and then include as many people as you can in it. You may find the people who were once extras in the film are now regular members of your church.
Church Children's Ministry Outreach Evangelism Ideas
Kids In The Park- Your community is bound to have a public park. Maybe it is time you made use of it? Every child loves fun and games. Why not hold a kids day in the park event with balloons, candy, and games? If the community knows you are reaching out to their kids you can expect families to become your next welcome guests.
Puppets Ministry- It may be old school but a great outreach for children still starts with a puppet ministry. It shouldn't take too much to make a puppet and can even be free. Just ask for volunteers to donate supplies and skill.
Color Days- Hold a color contest for your children. Then display all of their artwork in the church. This helps them feel proud and their parents will love seeing the work of art on something other than the fridge.
Movie Stars- Even little children enjoy being on film. Have fun making a children's video with songs and fun. Then have a movie night to let them all watch the show that they are staring in!
Craft Day- Who doesn't love arts and crafts? Hold an arts and crafts fair with face painting and many craft projects for kids of all ages to enjoy.
Church Evangelism Ideas
Prayer Walking- You may think this is old fashion but give it a try. You will be amazed what God brings your way when you take the time to walk through a neighborhood praying for it. If nothing else it may be what you need to get your church outreach attitudes in line!
Bible Mystery Dinner- Ever been to a murder mystery dinner? These can be great social events for your church. Hold one where the guests have to discover "who stole Paul's writing pen". You can have all kinds of themes and hold one every other week. This is a great way to get community involvement and interest started about your church. Now that is a great church evangelism idea!
Be A Kid Again- Who says you have to act your age. Have a grown up fun day and act like a kid. Invite the community to a carnival for kids of all ages. These can be great fun and will be sure to have people talking.
Baby Sitting- Provide one day of baby sitting for parents while they have a day to themselves. It may not seem like much but thankful parents will remember your work of love and their kids will remember how someone cared enough to share the gospel with them and have fun while their parents had a day to themselves.
Party Time- Every community needs to have a good time together. The church should be a place that people think of when they think of friends. Throw a seasonal party every now and then for the community. These events get the community active and gets your church noticed. |
