Authority of Scripture

The authority of the bible depends totally on how reliable scripture is. The claims made in scripture are amazing and easy for an unbelieving world to dismiss. Bible authority is based in the belief that the bible is the written word of God.

If it is the word of God then it must be the final authority!

How Do We Know Who Authored the Bible

Since the bible claims to be the Word of God we must test this. Like any other book we discover who the author is in many clues. We ask these main questions to discover the authority scripture has:

  • When was it published
  • Who published it
  • Why was it written
  • What kind of hints of the authors personality is in the book

Each one of these questions has an answer that points to God. To learn more on this subject please read our Bible History page.

How Does Bible Authority Affect Us

"Life does not come with instructions". This has always been a statement that was seen as true. It is however very wrong. The instructions for life are in the bible.

What Does The Bible Instruct us in?

  • Problem solving
  • Relationships
  • Order
  • Justice
  • Eternal Life
  • The list goes on!

God has given us commands and choices. We must know what these are to live the amazing life we should if we submit to the authority of the bible! All authority is from God... let us never forget that!
